To check that your LAN (Local Area Connection) is correctly configured on Windows 7 operating system, please follow the steps outlined:

- Click on Start and select ‘Control Panel’
- When the Control Panel opens, double Click on ‘Network and Internet’ as shown below.
- In the ‘Networkand Internet’ panel, double click on ‘Network and Sharing Center’. On the left hand side of the ‘Network and Sharing Center’, click on ‘Change adapter Settings’.
- Right Click on ‘Local Area Connection’ and from the menu select ‘Properties’ as shown below.
- When the local area connection properties window opens, under “this connection uses the following items”, double click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ which will open the properties window as shown below. Ensure that the “obtain an ip address automatically” and “obtain DNS server address automatically” are selected as shown
- Click OK and exit.
- BBNET also advise that you check that settings in “Internet Options” are correct. Click on the “start” menu and select “control panel”, click on “network and internet” and then on “internet options”.
- In ‘Internet Options’ select the ‘Connections’ tab which should look like below.
- Ensure that never dial a connection is selected as shown in the image above and select the ‘LAN Settings’ button displayed just below.
- In ‘LAN Settings’, click the ‘Automatically detect settings’ button so that is checked as shown below. Everything else should be left blank as shown.
- Click the ‘OK’ button, then click ‘Apply’ and then ‘OK’ again.
